My story
In 2018, I started on my adventure in the world of ceramics by enrolling in a course at Luca School of Arts in Ghent.
At first, I didn't know what to expect. However, I quickly became completely captivated by working with clay and the numerous fascinating techniques that can be used for the creation of color and texture. I had discovered a hidden passion that consumed me entirely.
One of the things I love most about ceramics is experimenting.
My works reflect this passion.
Although my work pieces all possess a certain cohesion and recognizable style, they are simultaneously quite distinct. Each piece I create tells its own story and reveals a different facet of my creativity.
In addition to ceramics, I am also fascinated by other art forms. Currently, I am pursuing a course in watercolor painting. My intention is to eventually combine these two artistic passions into my artwork.
My journey in the world of ceramics brings me immense creative fulfillment.
I eagerly anticipate the future, so I can continue to harmonize my passion for ceramics and watercolor painting and follow my own unique artistic path.
My Mission: Uniting Art and Functional Objects
Art is often considered a form of expression detached from practical utility, while functional objects are viewed as everyday items designed for specific purposes.
However, there are numerous reasons why these seemingly separate worlds can be brought together.
First and foremost, human nature plays a crucial role in uniting art and functionality. As creative beings, we are constantly seeking ways to discover and create beauty, even in the most mundane aspects of life. By combining art and functionality, a harmonious union is formed that is not only aesthetically appealing but also serves a practical role in our daily existence. In this way, we surround ourselves with objects that not only serve a purpose but also engage our senses and emotions.
Functional objects are elevated to become artworks that delight the eye and bring joy through their use.
Furthermore, the convergence of art and functionality can offer a sustainable alternative to our current throwaway culture. Investing in artistic, high-quality functional objects that possess both aesthetic and utilitarian qualities creates a strong bond with these items. We cherish them, repair them when needed, and pass them down to future generations.
Throughout history, numerous artists have created functional objects that are considered artistic masterpieces. Think of beautifully crafted vases, elegant furniture pieces, and unique jewelry. These objects demonstrate that art and functionality can go hand in hand, enhancing each other rather than excluding one another.
Lastly, the daily use of these objects reminds us that art is not solely reserved for museums and galleries but can be an omnipresent aspect of life. It allows us to transform our living spaces into artistic expressions of who we are and what we value.
In conclusion, my mission is to bridge the gap between art and functional objects, creating a harmonious fusion that enriches our lives and elevates the everyday.
